Helping rural Africans deal with Poverty, Malnutrition and HIV.\" class=\"wp-image-2801\" srcset=\"https:\/\/acatkzn.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/SS_03_March_2026.jpg 800w, https:\/\/acatkzn.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/SS_03_March_2026-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our vision is to see ACAT as an instrument in God\u2019s hand in the transformation of the poor of Africa from their spiritual, mental and physical poverty, into a sustainable lifestyle which is God-centred and people orientated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ACAT\u2019s mission is to design and implement training and mentoring programmes aimed at equipping people to be sustainable in every aspect of their lives, and to influence, motivate and assist others to achieve the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Programmes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our current interventions focus on four programmes all of which use the \u201cIntegrated Livelihoods\u201d programmatic approach:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list my-leftpadding\">\n<li>Sustainable Agriculture (SAP) to improve the livelihoods of small farmers and their families through low-cost food production methods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entrepreneurial Development (EDP) to enable disadvantaged rural families generate income in a sustainable way through small businesses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) to provide the necessary education and skills training material.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partnership Programme (PP) to train and mentor informal and formal partners to help their target group overcome poverty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macro-strategy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to implement sustainable solutions to the root causes of poverty, we mainstream the following through each of our programmes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list my-leftpadding\">\n<li>Identifying and addressing the causes of poverty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spiritual development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building up the capacity of programme participants through life skills (business, family, literacy, community structures, etc)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifying and addressing pandemics eg. Our current support base includes local and foreign funders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACAT\u2019s approach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ACAT has developed a relevant and dynamic sustainable development approach, which addresses the lives of those in poverty from a biblical and holistic point of view. ACAT&#8217;s training centre is at Lidgetton, near Howick and Pietermaritzburg.
