Partnership Programmes
Overall purpose
The overall purpose of ACAT’s Partnership Programme is to multiply ACAT’s reach and impact in promoting an improved physical, mental and spiritual quality life for the poor, marginalized or disadvantaged people of Africa.
ACAT’s Partnership model – Formal and Informal
The Partnership model operates within two general formats namely Formal and Informal. In both formats ACAT’s approach is essentially that of mentoring the partner within the context of programme implementation, spirituality and sustainability, which are key elements of ACAT’s ethos and value system.
The Formal relationship between ACAT and the partner requires a legal agreement between the two parties in order to regulate the obligations, duties and responsibilities that each party has to the other. Such a relationship is appropriate where the partner wishes to replicate ACAT either in the entirety of the partner’s work or as a significant element within its organisation.
The Informal relationship can take a variety of forms including frequent or infrequent mentoring, exposure visits to ACAT, or periodic meetings. Some form of training is common to all of these activities. There is no legal relationship, nor any board representation by ACAT with regard to an Informal Partnership.
Both formats are based on ACAT’s experience in implementing various development interventions.
Strategies
- Envision, equip and mentor formal partners with all the skills needed to implement ACAT’s programmes with excellence in management, leadership, governance, administration and programme delivery.
- Mentor and train informal partners with the skills needed to improve their impact and programme delivery.
- For ACAT to learn from others, and so improve the implementation of its own programmes.
