Mthobisi Mbali from Isibonelo G5, who joined the programme in March 2025 says, “I am extremely grateful for the ACAT programme, which opened my eyes to the possibility of starting a business that could sustain us without needing formal employment. I have always dreamed of running a tuck shop but was hesitant to get going in my area because of the rural location with limited population and high unemployment rate. However, after participating in the Basic Life Skills training in March 2025, I felt motivated and started purchasing retail goods in April. Although my business isn’t booming yet, I earn a weekly profit of R700, which enables me to restock according to customer demands.”
